My journey with this story began in confidence, with a revelation that shattered my understanding of the world. A close friend—someone I had known for years—shared Maria's documentary with me, and in doing so, revealed her true nature as a Vampire. I was entranced. The history, the tragedy, and the sheer magnitude of Maria's existence captivated me instantly. I knew this was not just a story; it was a legacy that needed to be preserved.
Compelled by what I had seen, I reached out to the Fashion House of Savannah and contacted Lola. I asked for the privilege of writing the book that would trace the path of the documentary, filling in the silence between the frames. Lola was protective of the legacy. She scrutinized my experience before finally granting permission to begin the first draft.
The writing process has been a labor of respect. After reviewing our initial draft, Lola felt it would be fitting to launch the book on a date of profound significance: March 7th, 2026, the anniversary of Maria's death.
For over 11 months, our team has worked tirelessly to meet this moment. We have delved into history, fashion, and the hidden corners of a life lived forever. We believe we have finally captured Maria's story, and we are honored to share it with you.
